Makes me want to go our for a good Mexican food dinner. I don't think I will ever try raw fish since I really don't like cooked fish very much.

Mike, loved the blog. The trip sounds fun - sushi on a conveyor belt, fascinating. Hope the jet lag diminishes.

I understand the feeling about the food. When I came to Japan 24 years ago, I was not real crazy about the sushi and sashimi. However, God gave me a love for the Japanese people and a desire to see them come to Jesus. I determined to eat and not offend. I now love sushi and sashimi, and I still love the Japanese people and desire to see them come to Jesus.

Well, this answers my question about breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) and now I know I could never travel to Japan. Or maybe I could if I really wanted to lose weight. All that raw fish...dear Lord. I hope my husband never wants to go their for "fun".

Ah the sushi bar... I like those 'cause you can pick which ones you do and don't eat and since I don't eat sashimi (raw fish), the ones I do eat are the cheapest on the menu. (tuna and mayo, tamagoyaki, corn and mayo, cucumber)... some of those places are pretty fancy and have other funky things on the menu as well... a few of which can even resemble western food and desserts.

If it makes you feel any better, I arrived in Jpn. for the 1st time 10 yrs. ago and I STILL don't eat sashimi (raw fish). I explain to people that if I try to eat it, it will fight with my stomach and my stomach will win and evict it. Seaweed of some kinds I have a liking for though. I'm just not willing to play the Russian roulette game of raw fish and possible food-poisoning (which isn't widely discussed, but happens sometimes).
