If he wanted a private service, he should have booked the church at a special time, rather than closing its regular service, just like people do for weddings and funerals.

Must be nice to have enough money to buy God's house... ;)

are you kidding me????? i understand not wanting cameras for his daughter's baptism. SO MAKE A "NO CAMERA POLICY"!!!! you can't restrict who comes into the House of God!!!! The Great Commission says to reach the lost. How are you going to reach the lost when you restrict your fellow believers? Mel...you did a great job on "Passion". But its been a slippery slope downhill for you ever since. And this only makes it worse.

Why does one person have so much influence over a church's policy? Money. It doesn't cost much for the mystical body of Christ to gather, and yet churches always find a way to spend lots of money. That's the real issue here. The church is a modern-day Gomer, selling herself to whomever will dress her in fine clothes. Jesus will end up hanging out with whomever we exclude. If we want Jesus in, we better let everyone in, regardless of how that may inconvenience big donors.

REAL regulars should be treated as fellow worshippers ....&allowed to worship "as usual" - but the rest would most probably not come as worshippers. It's fair to limit those people for such an occasion.
