Good Guy. Not So Good Name.

Is this some of the “Christian cheese” you feel you’re supposed to call people out on? It kinda just seems rude.

  • Mike Potter says:

Dear Someone: No, I am not calling this “Christian Cheese.” You’ll notice that the normal “Christian Cheese” category is not being applied to this post. I just found this to be funny. Funny in the way that countless people have enjoyed my last name being Potter (as in Harry). No harm intended. No need to accuse me of being rude.

  • Someone says:

It only seems like not the kindest thing to post because the humor is found in the fact that his name is also a sin. Completely different than Harry Potter. Just doesn’t seem necessary to have a following of people joke about a name of a fellow pastor in Albuquerque when it is a sexual sin you’re joking about.

  • Someone else says:

I agree with Someone. Why would you humiliate a fellow Christian (a fellow PASTOR) like that? He didn’t name himself. It’s not the same as having the same last name as a children’s fictional character… This is disgustingly immature. And we have the audacity wonder why the world (both believers and non-believers) hates Christians…

  • Kat says:

Mike didn’t make fun. He said that the pastor was a good man with a rather unfortunate name, the second half of which is undeniably true. If Pastor Lust is unable to find the humor in his situation, the first half may be in question. Or in other words, Someone needs to lighten up.

I for one appreciate humor, especially sarcasm.

  • Someone else says:

I still don’t see the necessity in pointing it out? You think pastor Jeff doesn’t know? Joking or pointing out irony over a sexual sin is totally inappropriate. We are supposed to flee from sin but yet it’s a joke to Mike AND apparently to his church members and blog followers. I can’t even begin to express how glad I am that the focus at my church is on glorifying God and loving, serving, and encouraging others— not joking about sin and tearing others down. Good luck at Foothills Fellowship.

  • Joe Schmo says:

Does someone else believe in luck?

  • Someone else says:

I think at this church luck must be all they have…

  • Seriously says:

Someone else: I know who you are, but I’m not so sure why you are so down on Foothills. The people there have been nothing but good and kind to you, especially the pastors. And all you can do is talk negatively about them and us…and leave the church without so much as a word. Seriously?

Looks like things are getting a bit testy on this one. I’d better close off the comments on this before it goes any further.
